How to Upload Microsoft Office Account to New Laptop
In May 2019, information technology is not possible to deactivate a retail install from the Service & Subscription page. There is simply no option to practise this. I would imagine there'southward a deactivate option for Office included in Part 365. Given this aforementioned question has been asked since late 2018, with no useful answers, I guess the author of this post didn't bank check under Services & Subscription before writing this article in Apr 2019. If she had, she'd know her tip is no longer valid.
Every bit usual, no information has been provided by Microsoft to go along with their latest changes. The 2013/2016 article above gives no clues - just a bland argument that retail is licensed for one PC just.
Upgrading to new PC:
Equally we cannot conciliate a retail install, are we supposed to uninstall information technology first? Who knows!
If we don't uninstall it first simply go ahead and install on the new PC, will the onetime stop working immediately? Who knows!
So at present, instead of existence able to completely setup new PC in advance of delivering to site, I accept to go out Role until I get onsite because I take no thought if pre-installing it ready on the new PC will end it working on their current PC. Thanks Microsoft.

There is no way to deactivate the retail versions, you "deactivate" the quondam license by uninstalling it from the computer. If you needed to reactivate it on the electric current computer, the old activation is replaced past the new one.
Theretail licenses are limited to i computer and cannot exist moved to new computers frequently like the subscription version, so deactivation is not necessary. You are express in the number of times and how oft y'all can reactivate it on new hardware (once every 90 days).

On activation: I need to go by what the EULA says hither though, but yeah, it works similar it did with Office 2010, with the restrictions based on when yous concluding activated and how many total times yous activated the key. AFAIK, information technology only checks the license with new installs/reinstalls or after major hardware changes.

i deactivated my office 365 for dwelling it downloaded on my new computer fine except it gear up upwards an outlook exchange instead of copying my current account with address book ow exercise i fix it

Who is your electronic mail provider? If it's outlook.com or exchange, and you want it prepare up equally popular or imap, you need to utilise manual setup.
If the contacts are in a pst, open it using File > Open & Export > Outlook Data File

And so the customer is supposed to uninstall their paid copy of Part from their erstwhile reckoner earlier trying to install and activate Function on their new computer and and so promise that Microsoft decides to honour the product fundamental.
Does anyone have confidence in this sequence of events?

Diane, I believe that previously there was a 'deactivate' button for 365 however, whether is correct or not (I do not have Office 365) 'deactivation' is by fashion of signing out. See: Deactivate Role 365

In light of Diane Poremsky's comments from dorsum in May 2019, I think I need to clarify my situation and my problem.
I have a legitimate paid for Microsoft Office Pro 2016 on my one-time Win7 laptop. I am working towards retiring that laptop in favor of my brand new Win10 laptop.
I have absolutely no involvement in Function 365, but I really would similar to transfer my Function 2016 to the new laptop. The EULA for Office 2016 indicates that this is supposed to be possible. In that location are multiple manufactures on both the Microsoft Support website and several other websites which all say information technology is supposed to exist possible. Merely none of them seem to work.
I tin log in to Microsoft and information technology clearly shows that I do have a valid license for Function 2016. The site displays what it says is the Product Central that I should be able to use to activate Office 2016. It likewise displays a push button for me to download Role 2016 onto my new estimator.
The download worked and the install program apparently worked. Then Office wants to be activated. The choices offered are to activate it online or past telephone.
I tried online kickoff. It never asks for the product key -- apparently Microsoft configures the product key as part of the download -- but when I run the online activation, it says my production central is invalid.
And then I tried the "telephone" option -- which is now a 100% automated process where you lot enter a zillion-digit number to place the specific installation. This also says the production key is invalid (yeah, all the digits were entered correctly).
Then I tried the "telephone" option once again by telling it I didn't have a smart phone then it permit me get a live person (who almost spoke English). He ran the number and told me it was a [something] cardinal (I never did manage to sympathise what he was calling it, manifestly some four letters that I retrieve started with B Northward, but I'm not sure). What I did understand was his insistence that the key Microsoft had given me wasn't from Microsoft. And, of course, his insistence on trying to sell me Role 365.
Dorsum to the Microsoft Back up website again. This time I tried "Alive Conversation" which was an interesting experience. First Microsoft warns you that there is going to be a long wait, then I watched my place in line start at 10, change to 9, then change to 14, then 16, then 11, then I got a technician. I explained the problem, the technician was very helpful and asked if I would give him remote access. Of course I was happy to do that. He tried to actuate my valid re-create of Role 2016 that had just been downloaded from Microsoft. It wouldn't work for him. Co-ordinate to him, the production key had used up its immune number of attempts. I specifically asked if the problem was because I had not even so uninstalled Office from the old laptop. He said that would not be the problem. In fact, he cautioned me to Not uninstall the working copy on my erstwhile laptop because it would not install on the new laptop and probably would non exist able to reinstall on the onetime laptop either.

Non sure where you are with this. "I have a legitimate paid for Microsoft Office Pro 2019" Not sure well-nigh that if information technology is a Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019. These are book licences. If you lot purchased online at a knockdown price it volition not be legitimate.
Are you saying that you lot as well accept an Office 2016? If and then which version practice you have?
